 Seats for Forklifts Gresham - Gresham is a city in the state of Oregon. The 4th largest city within Oregon State with more than 105,000 residents and is located east of Portland within Multnomah County.
The community was initially referred to as a campground for pioneers who were heading out towards the Willamette Valley and Portland. The city of Gresham was not able to receive its status until it first established a postal office and postal code. A store was offered as a post office by a local business man and suggested naming the city after Postmaster General Walter Quinton Gresham, who was also an American Civil War general. The post office was established during 1884, and during the year 1905 Gresham was incorporated as a city with Lewis Shattuck as its first mayor.
The people of Gresham have recognized that art is an important part of their community. The city has been able to attract and grow lots of artists who have built a vibrant local arts scene. City Hall is a focal point of cultural activity, with regular public art exhibitions. The local government supports the artists of the city by providing gallery space and by purchasing art from local artists.
The Gresham Art Walk, held every year within the city, features practically 100 artists from throughout Oregon and southwest Washington. The guests come from all over to enjoy the live music while being able to meet many of the artists. They also come to browse the locally produced paintings, pottery, photography, beadwork, glass work and textiles. Gresham's downtown has various one-of-a-kind farmers markets and boutiques. Shoppers have access to fifty nationally recognized restaurants and shops at Gresham Station.
There are several outdoor activities to enjoy, like the Mt. Hood National Forest and the scenic Columbia River Gorge. The Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area was formed during the Missoula floods around 13,000 to 15,000 years ago forming a 130 km passageway. Outdoor aficionados can enjoy the following activities at the Gorge: camping, swimming, fishing, hiking, birding, wildlife viewing, photography, boating, rock climbing, picnicking, mountain biking and windsurfing.
